Discourse Community
The discourse community I am apart of is hunting! This is marked as a male sport. Obviously, the sport consists of shooting a gun, gutting out the animal, etc. Of course, women that do hunt are seen as hillbilly and not looked to as feminine. Ridiculous!!! If a man can load up a 300 mag riffle and go hunting, why can't a woman! My sister and I have grown up hunting and we love it! There may be a wall between men and women in this sport but it is slowly breaking.

Liked the blog missy! I had no clue that you were a hunting kind of gal. That's really awesome. It is ridiculous that some women are looked at differently because they might be involved in a discourse community like hunting. It is a sport mostly known for males, but you my friend, are breaking that mold! I really enjoyed your point, so what do you hunt??
That is a great discourse community and very marked as male. Wonder why that is? How important is language to hunters? There are obviously visuals that are important (bright colors, hand gestures, etc.) but I am wondering if the community has specific written discourse.
